Beginning January 1, 2010, Florida has new document requirements for residents renewing or obtaining a new driver license or identification card. The motorcycle, CDL and driver’s handbooks can be found online and downloaded in PDF format.
FOR APPLICANTS UNDER 18
Drivers under 18 years of age must meet the listed criteria before they are eligible to apply for a Class E license. Parent/guardian will have to attest to the applicant having met the criteria. If a parent/guardian is unable to accompany the applicant, the form can be printed, completed and signed by a parent, and notarized.
If you are taking a driver license road test, you must provide proof of valid Florida insurance on the vehicle you are testing in. You must also bring original documents (no photo copies can be accepted) that prove your identity (examples of proof of identity may include, but are not limited to: birth certificate from vital statistics, a valid US Passport, or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad), social security number and residential address if:
- You are applying for your first driver license or identification card and do not currently have a valid Florida Learner's Permit.
- Your current credential expires and you have already used the one-time convenience renewal option.
- You have changed your name since your last renewal.
* Appointments are required for all testing. Schedule an appointment.
If none of these apply to you, you can renew your license by mail or at MyDMV Portal. A directory of service center locations can be found at the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’s website. If you visit an office to obtain a driver license or ID card after January 1, 2010, you will need to meet these new requirements.
Please be aware that our office does not provide translation services for road tests. If you need translation, you must provide a translator. For those taking written tests, several languages are available through our computer testing system. An oral interpretation driver's license test can be provided by appointment only on Tuesdays in our Panama City office and must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.
