Hunting and Fishing Licenses

A Military Gold Sportsman’s License is available to active or retired members of the U. S. Armed Forces (Armed Forces Reserve, Florida National Guard, Coast Guard or Coast Guard Reserve) stationed in Florida or claim Florida as their primary residence. The cost is $20.

The Military Gold Sportsman’s License includes freshwater and saltwater fishing, hunting, wildlife management area, archery, crossbow, muzzle loading gun, turkey, deer, Florida waterfowl permit, lobster and snook permits.

The license does not include tarpon tags, alligator trapping licenses, limited entry hunt permits, migratory bird permit or the federal duck stamp.

Hunter education requirements do apply to military personnel.

Florida residents who are active military personnel must present a current military identification card and a Florida driver license to purchase the license. It expires one year from the date of purchase.

A non-resident active military member that is stationed in Florida may receive a Military Gold Sportsman’s License for $20 if military orders showing they are stationed in Florida and their out of state drivers license is presented. It expires one year from the date of purchase.

Retired military personnel who are Florida residents may also obtain this license using a current Red or Blue military identification card. Red cards must contain branch insignia on the face to be accepted.

Florida residents who can show authorized leave documentation stating that they are not stationed in Florida and home on leave for 30 days or less are exempt from general license requirements. The leave documentation must be in possession when participating in these activities.

This license is not available to family members unless they are also active duty or retired military personnel.

This license can only be purchased at a county tax collector’s office.
